He was known as Colin Blakemore and worked as the Yeung Kin Man Professor of Neuroscience and Senior Fellow at the City University of Hong Kong’s Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study.
Former British Medical Research Council CEO Blakemore was a Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Institute of Philosophy, School of Advanced Study, University of London, and an Emeritus Professor of Neuroscience at the University of Oxford (MRC).
The Observer referred to the neurobiologist as “one of the most powerful scientists in the UK” and “a hate figure for the animal rights movement” while the general public described him as a science communicator and the subject of a long-running animal rights campaign.
