Church leaders across Ghana have declared a three-day national prayer and fasting programme to petition God over the outbreak of COVID-19 fast spreading in Ghana.
The program will start Friday, April 24 to Sunday, April 26, 2020.
Reverend Paul Boafo, Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana while in a meeting with the President at the Flagstaff house made it known that they will at least undertake such a move to show their support to the government.
“All of us have come together to organize a 3-day national prayer and fasting program starting Friday through to Sunday this very week which is part of our response to the COVID-19 pandemic and how Ghana is also helping to fight it,” – he said.
This is the second time the government is undertaking such a program.
The first was held on March 25, 2020, at the time the government recorded a few COVID-19 cases.
President Nana Addo while declaring the National Fasting and Praying day said:
“Whilst we continue to adhere to these measures and ramp up our efforts to defeat this virus, I urge all of us also to seek the face of the Almighty.
So on Wednesday, 25th March 2020, I appeal to all Ghanaians – Christians and Muslims to observe a national day of fasting and prayer. Let us pray to God to protect our nation and save us from this pandemic.”
