President Nana Addo has met Christian leaders to update them on the current ban placed on Churches as a preventive measure against the spread of Coronavirus.

In their meeting which was held on Tuesday, 21st April, 2020, the Head of State let them know that he understands the current ban has affected church activities and social life in general and that he wishes to see the ban being lifted.

However, he cannot do that without carefully considering the needed modalities.

He said “You are major actors in the struggle, the banning of public gatherings that affects the Churches affects each one of you. I felt that with all of this as the background, with the role that you have already played, and continue to play, it would be a good moment for us to meet again and exchange views as to the way forward for our country”.

On their part, the leadership of the Christian Community pledged their unwavering support for the government as it takes continued steps to stop the spread of the novel Coronavirus, COVID-19 within the Ghanaian territory.

“We are behind what the government is doing and we will do it such that at the end of the day, we will all rejoice for it that we stood together, we were in it together, and we have battled to win together and that the Church can join in the celebration after it all” Rt. Rev. Kwabena Boafo said.”
