The Nigerian National Human Rights Commission(NHRC) has revealed that, the security forces tasked to enforce the lock down directives aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 have actually killed more people than the virus.

Although the country recorded 407 confirmed cases, the pandemic has so far killed 12 people whilst police brutalities have ended up claiming 18 lives and counting.

This Human rights commission has disclosed that, they have received numerous calls and videos from people who are either victims of the brutalities or witnesses to these unfortunate situations.

The Police force however encouraged citizens to report abusive officers who engage in unprofessional acts and infringes upon their rights.

The country has been on two weeks partial lock down imposed by the President as part of measures being implored to deal with the outbreak.
