Dave Chappelle had attended the meeting as a member of a group of vocal opponents to the land’s rezoning.

In his part, Chappelle told that he would divest from the community if the legislation goes further.

After the meeting, social media users began judging Chappelle’s sentiment for opposing the development ordinance.

Although the community council had supported the zoning change, he threatened to pull his business investments from the town.

He further told that he has invested “millions of dollars in the town”. The comedian also added, ” If you push this thing through, what I’m investing in is no longer applicable.”

Nimby means a person who objects to the occurrence of something if it will affect him or her, as stated in the Urban Dictionary.

It is a short acronym for saying “Not In My Back Yard” and natural phenomena or attitudes for being “Territorial”.
