The Death Row Records “First Lady” Jewell Caples popularly known as Jewell was an American hip hop and R n B singer who was signed with the label Death Row Records in the early 1990s.

Caples became known universally for her 1995 breakthrough with the hit, a cover of Shirley Brown’s Woman to Woman which climbed to No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 16 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-hop list and also after appearing in Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur’s iconic albums-The Chronic, Doggy style and All Eyes On Me.

Jewell Caples was born on June 12, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois, United States.

On Friday, 6th May at 5 am her demise was affirmed by the former head of Death Row security, Reggie Wright Jnr. She died at age 53. The cause of her demise has not yet been disclosed formally.

Prior to the news of her demise, approximately 2 months she revealed her health struggles on her Instagram page “Attention All Non Believers which was Hospitalized on March 2, 2022.

Released on March 5, 2022, went home with 8lbs of fluid on my heart, lungs, and legs! Went back to the hospital from March 16th until Today March 21, 2022. I Almost Died!”, she captioned the post.

Caples also added: “Was supposed to be Airlifted to another facility. GOD reverse my symptoms and extended me some GRACE! And gave me more time with my Family and Friends! Thank you JESUS for saving my life again! 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 GOD IS REAL!”
