He has collaborated with and received production credits from a number of well-known artists, including Wizkid, Sizwe Alakine, Kwesta, Uhuru, Drake, Black Coffee, Major Lazer, Runtown, C4 Pedro, TRESOR, Kabza De Small, and Era Istrefi Mpura Young Stunna Killer Kau. He was signed to Kalawa Jazmee Records, year’s ago, before he found his own record company, known as BlaqBoy Music.
DJ Maphorisa left Uhuru to pursue a solo career in 2025, which his solo career gained momentum in 2017 when he released his debut album, “Gqom Wave.” The album featured collaborations with many popular South African musicians and showcased Maphorisa’s talent for producing music that blends different genres seamlessly.
DJ Maphorisa has won several awards for his contribution to the music industry. In 2018, he won the Best Male Southern Africa award at the African Music Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), and in 2019, he won the Producer of the Year award at the Dance Music Awards South Africa.
