Shear founded Justin.tv in 2006 with partners Justin Kan, Michael Seibel, and Kyle Vogt. Kan’s life is streamed live 24 hours a day via a webcam mounted on his head.
About eight months after Kan’s “lifecasting,” the four partners decided to switch to offering a live video platform so that anyone could upload a live video feed. Prior to its closure on August 5, 2014, Justin.tv, one of the biggest live video platforms in the world when it first debuted in 2007, had more than 30 million monthly unique users.
