About FC Metz
Metz, also known as FC Metz, is a renowned football club hailing from Metz, Lorraine in France. Established in 1932, the club currently competes in Ligue 1, the top tier of French football. FC Metz has gained widespread recognition in both France and Europe for its highly successful youth academy. This renowned institution has produced a plethora of talented players who have gone on to become stars in the football world.
Among these notable individuals are Rigobert Song, Robert Pires, Louis Saha, Emmanuel Adebayor, Papiss Cissé, Miralem Pjanić, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Sadio Mané.
The club’s proximity to Luxembourg, just about 55 km away, has played a pivotal role in attracting young prospects to join their ranks. The board of FC Metz also maintains strong ties with the Luxembourgish Football Federation, further enhancing their ability to import promising talents.
Some of the club’s most legendary players, such as Nicolas “Nico” Braun, the all-time leading goalscorer, and Pjanić, as well as more recent additions like Chris Philipps, have previously honed their skills in the amateur leagues of Luxembourg before making their mark with “les Grenats.” However, it is important to note that not all Luxembourgers have found success with Metz, with Robert “Robby” Langers serving as a prime example.
Syllabus At FC Metz
Different types of internships come with their tailored programs. These programs are designed to cater to the specific needs of each internship. Depending on the requirements, the program may include training sessions, friendly matches, French language lessons, online or on-site learning opportunities, medical and academic support, as well as cultural visits. We ensure that every intern receives a comprehensive and personalized experience.
The actions carried out are essentially oriented towards welcoming young players:
- Short and medium-term course (1 week to 3 months) intended for players aged 15 to 18.
- Short-term course (1 to 3 weeks) aimed at established groups or teams (selection, club, high school, etc.).
- Long-term courses (1 season) intended for players aged 15 to 18, in complete immersion within the FC Metz training centre.
Requirements for Applying to FC Metz
- You should be a young footballer in the U16 (born 2006), U17 (born 2005), U18 (born 2004) or U19 (born 2003) category.
- Preliminary procedure for the admittance – in that regard please fill and send us the below documents:

- Copy of your last school reports
If the application form is validated, the player will be invited to attend one or more days for evaluation, depending on his school calendar.

If the player is admitted to the program, a training agreement will be established between him, his parents and the managing director of FC Metz International Football Academy. Admission will be final after payment of € 1.000 application fees.

The academy’s training policy is based on six essential principles:
- Allow young players in training to follow traditional education in public schools alongside non-athletic students, and stimulate their openness;
- Maintain confidence in our players, giving them time to develop;
- Support our young players to turn them into accomplished sportsmen and women and responsible adults;
- Put a team of sports, educational, school and medical supervisors at the service of each player, to guide, stimulate and support them in their personal development and fulfilment;
- Work closely with the parents of each player for the development and progression of their child;
- To give all the keys to success to the players who will manage to integrate professional football, but also to those who will pursue their careers outside professional football.
