Tyre Nichols worked the second shift for FedEx, a significant employer and corporate presence in Memphis. He would reportedly go back to his mother’s home every evening at around 7 p.m. for his “lunch” break. Nichols had spent about nine months working for FedEx. On the evening of January 7, Nichols was stopped by Memphis police officers for what they initially claimed was reckless driving, and for about three minutes they beat him to death.

After a violent altercation during the stop, Nichols was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The father of one passed away three days later. Authorities in Memphis, family members, and other organizations have all made statements. Many people may be curious as to whether Nichols’ employer has also released a statement.
