AstraZeneca understands that improving equality in outcomes and meeting the growing demand for healthcare services require prioritizing prevention. Our health systems must be redesigned to respond sooner to prevent illness and to provide access to health education, literacy, and empowerment. This will need a fundamental transition from “sick care” to health care.

Main Focus of The AstraZeneca Health Scholarship Programme

• Enhancing health equity access: This entails pushing for more equitable health outcomes for everyone by bridging the gap between patients and medical care, especially for young people from marginalized and historically underprivileged backgrounds. Increasing gender parity in women’s and girls’ healthcare, for instance.
• Reducing the impact of climate change on healthcare and health – promoting the reduction of the detrimental consequences of climate change on youth health and wellbeing.
• Resilience and strengthening of the health system: promoting more robust and equitable health systems, giving resources geared toward youth priority, and encouraging cooperation amongst stakeholders in the health system.

About The AstraZeneca Health Scholarship Programme

The Young Health Programme (YHP) by AstraZeneca is an international initiative aimed at preventing disease. It is specifically designed for young people, aged 10 to 24, who are living in underprivileged and vulnerable areas worldwide.

The primary goal of the YHP is to prevent the most prevalent non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and respiratory conditions.

The Young Health Programme (YHP) effect Fellowship from AstraZeneca is intended to enable young people to expand their networks, acquire new skills, and be motivated to make even more beneficial changes by scaling up their effects.

Benefits of Applying For the AstraZeneca Young Health Scholarship Programme

Many benefits come with the AstraZeneca Young Health Scholarship Programme since it is fully funded. Well, yes! You read it right, it is fully funded. The following are the costs which is covered by the scholarship programme:

• Complete delegate access to the September 18–21, 2024, One Young World Summit in Montréal, Canada.
• Return airfare to Montréal from your nation of origin (economy only). The team responsible for OYW delegate services will arrange for flights.
• Shared lodging in a Montréal hotel, with check-in on September 17 and check-out on September 22. The staff responsible for organizing OYW delegate services will make hotel arrangements.
• Catering that consists of: Dinner on September 18th, Breakfast, midday, and evening on September 19–21and 22 September breakfast.
• A day allowance of up to £48 for travel expenses to Montréal as well as for the days leading up to and following the Summit on September 17, 18, and 22.
• Reimbursement of the about 110 Canadian dollar application fee for a visiting visa to Canada.

Throughout the year, the Fellowship will offer a mix of in-person and online learning and development opportunities to support Fellows in increasing their impact.

Taking part in an internationally recognized online mini-MBA program that comes with university accreditation, a year of material access, and other benefits are just a few examples of what this entails.

Eligibility Requirements

• 18 to 30 years old. * English proficiency (speaking, reading, and writing)
• All nationals are qualified to apply for this scholarship.
• Ability to fully participate in the One Young World Summit in Montreal, Canada (17–22 September 2024) in person.
• Willingness to collaborate, build relationships, co-create promises to act, and, where necessary, act as ambassadors for AZ’s work on youth and health equity.

Fellows will not be given access to the internet or a device (computer, phone) that will enable them to take part in live, online fellowship sessions.

It is required of selected participants to fully engage in the One Young World Summit and youth impact fellowship. Any false representation or partial participation could put their fellowship advantages at risk.

The majority of delegates are in the age range of 18 to 30. Applications from applicants older than thirty will be taken into consideration by the selection committee if they can demonstrate a suitable level of personal influence, initiative, and engagement.
