An American doctor named George Nagobads was born on November 18th, 1921, in Latvia, where he remained until March 31st, 2023. In Latvia, Nagobads played ice hockey and bandy when he was younger. While still in high school, he decided to follow in the footsteps of his uncle and seek a career in medicine.

George Nagobads also served as the squad physician for the University of Minnesota’s men from the period of 1958 to 1992. Goalkeeper Jim Craig and George Nagobads grew close, and George urged Brooks to name Mike Eruzione the team captain. According to “Boys of Winter,” Craig allegedly resided in George Nagobad’s basement before the Olympics.

George Nagobads also served as the squad physician for the University of Minnesota’s men from the period of 1958 to 1992. George Nagobads received the Paul Loicq Prize from the International Ice Hockey Federation in 2003 in honor of his “exceptional contributions to the IIHF and international hockey.”
