George Stinney Jr. was a black American boy who was convicted at the age of 14 years. George Stinney Jr. was born in Pinewood, South Carolina on October 21, 1929. After his conviction, people felt his ruling was unfair therefore George Stinney Jr. proceeded to be executed for the murders of two young American girls named Betty June Binnicker who was 11 years and Mary Emma Thames who was also 7 years old. This unfortunate incident happened in March 1944.
After several deliberations, George Stinney Jr. was found guilty and his punishment was to be put to death by an electric chair on June 16, 1944, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Seventy years on after his death, George’s case was reviewed.
In 2014, judges who reviewed George’s case claimed he had not received a fair judgment and was wrongfully executed.

George Stinney Parents: Aime Stinney, George Stinney, Sr.

George Stinney Jr. was born to Aime Stinney, his mother who was school cook at the Alcolu’s school for black children and George Stinney Sr., his father who worked as a sharecropper at the town’s sawmill.
George’s parents also had two children named Charles and John.
