Government places ban on the importation of frozen chicken

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has banned the importation of frozen chicken, day old chicks, hatching eggs and other poultry products and feeds from the Netherlands, Germany, Russia, and the United Kingdom.
This is following a confirmed outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in the afore-mentioned countries.
The ministry says they took this decision upon advice from the Veterinary Services Directorate.
“Importers are to note that all import permits that are issued for such consigment from Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Denmark and United Kingdom have been rendered invalid with immediate effect“, part of the statement reads.
