In Thy Image’s pilot script was written by Harold Livingston, who was hired as a producer for the series. Scripts had been written, and sets were being built, when Paramount decided to abandon the project in favour of turning it into the first Star Trek feature film.
Other scripts he wrote include, Alan Dean Foster and Gene Roddenberry, which helped shape the story and script. Livingston worked as a radio operator for aircraft navigation before becoming a writer, and he wrote a book about his experiences called No Trophy, No Sword.
He was a founding member of the Israeli Air Force and was instrumental in Israel’s victory over the Arabs in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War.
