Sergey Alexandrovich Karjakin, born on January 12, 1990, is a Russian chess grandmaster. (Previously represented Ukraine) He was a chess prodigy who set the record for the world’s youngest grandmaster when he qualified at the age of 12 years and 7 months.

Karjakin won the European U10 Chess Championship in 1999, and the World U12 Chess Championship in 2001. He received the International Master title at the age of 11, and the Grandmaster title in 2003.

In 2004, he represented Ukraine at the Chess Olympiad, winning both team and individual gold. Before going to Russia, he competed in two more Chess Olympiads for Ukraine and won the Corus chess tournament in 2009.

Who is Sergey Karjakin wife Galia Kamalova?

He is a member of the Eastern Orthodox Church. In May 2014, Karjakin married Galiya Kamalova, secretary of the Moscow Chess Federation. They have two sons, one of whom was born in 2015 and the other in 2017.

He was previously married to Ukrainian chess player Kateryna Dolzhykova in 2009.
