According to police, tight end Spencer Webb of the Oregon Ducks passed away after falling and hitting his head on a rock slide at a well-liked swimming lake close to Eugene.
The 22-year-old, who was scheduled to play his fifth football season at the University of Oregon this fall, was discovered Wednesday afternoon near Triangle Lake about 100 yards down a treacherous track.
According to a statement from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, he was not breathing and could not be resuscitated by either emergency personnel or witnesses.
