On July 25, 2019, it was revealed that Milly Zero would replace Dotty when she was reintroduced.
Dotty Cotton was initially despised by critics. The Daily Mail’s Jane Simon criticized her accent. The Daily Mirror and The Guardian critics were happy to see her go. Conlin’s portrayal of Dotty, however, received praise from executive producer Diederick Santer, and both Brown and Altman agreed that the plot was one of the show’s highlights.
