Ellis’s first television appearance was made in the year 1978. She made the appearance with a minor role in the BBC’s children’s Jacknory Playhouse. She as well appeared as Marge’s Friend in The Sweeney episode titled Hard Men.
Ellis’s father was a soldier. He was stationed during Ellis’s childhood at various places in Britain and Germany. Ellis attended a total of seven schools in the two countries. They included Russell House School which she attended between the ages of five and seven years and St Hilary’s school which she attended between the ages of 11 and 13.
