American satire comedy 30 Rock was first shown on NBC from October 11, 2006, until January 31, 2013. It was conceived by Tina Fey. The sitcom, which is based on Fey’s experiences working as Saturday Night Live’s head writer, is set in the backstage area of a made-up live sketch comedy program that appears to be airing on NBC.

The name of the show alludes to 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, which is home to NBC Studios and hosts the show’s writing, production, and performance. Producing the show with Fey’s Little Stranger and Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video (which also produces Saturday Night Live) was NBCUniversal.

With the exception of the two live episodes, which were recorded using a multiple-camera setup, 30 Rock episodes were produced in a single-camera arrangement and filmed in New York. On October 11, 2006, the debut episode aired, and seven seasons followed.
