On September 3, 1992, Augusta Alsina was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the child of Sheila Alsina and August Alsina Sr.
Since he was a young child, his parents had been estranged, and both his father and later his stepfather had battled crack cocaine addiction. His mother moved him to Houston, Texas, after Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast in 2005 in an effort to give him a better life. His father used drugs and died shortly after.

He gained even more notoriety with the publication of his debut studio album, “Testimony,” in 2014, which peaked at number two on the album charts. Alsina additionally offers the albums “This Thing Called Life” from 2015 and the EP “Downtown: Life Under The Gun” from 2013.
