On September 3, 1992, Alsina was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended middle school in New Orleans. Despite the fact that no one in his family had a musical background, Lauryn Hill in Sister Act 2 inspired him to sing. Alsina uploaded her first video on YouTube at the age of 14, which was a cover of Lyfe Jennings’ “Hypothetically.”

Alsina’s mother sent him to Houston, Texas in search of a fresh start following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 since his father and stepfather were both battling crack cocaine addiction. Then, Alsina’s father died. Alsina’s mother eventually fell out, and he was “kicked out.”

Alsina initially released a mixtape in 2012 titled The Product before releasing his debut extended play (EP), Downtown: Life Under the Gun, in 2013 on The-Radio Dream’s Killa Records and Def Jam Recordings. Alsina’s debut studio album, “Testimony,” was released in 2014 after the Platinum-selling singles “I Luv This Shit” (with Trinidad James) and “No Love” found success. (With Nicki Minaj). The album’s follow-up, This Thing Called Life, was released in 2015. After leaving Def Jam after a lengthy hiatus, he released the EP Forever and a Day in 2019.

After becoming more committed to music as a result of the shooting death of his older brother, Melvin La’Branch III, on August 31, 2010, he relocated to Atlanta in 2011.
