February 18, 1944 – January 12, 2022, Barbara Jean Barnes Morrison Township, Michigan’s Marquette Township Barbara Jean Barnes, who was receiving hospice care and living in the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, passed away peacefully in the early hours of April 1, 2022, in front of her family. Her parents, Frederick and Virginia Bourgeois, died on February 18, 1944, in Bay City, Michigan, before she did.
Barb previously held the position of billing supervisor at Bay Medical Hospital in Bay City, Michigan. In addition to living in Indianapolis, she also had homes in Clare, Michigan, where her parents lived, and Pasadena, Florida, where she worked as a secretary at Great American Boat Yard and met her future husband, Ian Barnes.
Prior to moving to Marquette, Michigan in 1993 to be nearer to her daughter and their new grandchild, they shared a home in Florida. Barb enjoyed gardening and camping, but her health problems made such activities more difficult.
