Carolyn Bryant is the 21-year-old woman who accused Emmett Till of inappropriate behavior towards her which led to his kidnap, torture and murder. Carolyn Bryant was born in Mississippi in 1934, she dropped out of high school and marry Roy Bryant.
Roy and Carolyn ran a small grocery, Bryant’s Grocery & Meat Market, the shop was located in the tiny town of Money, the heart of the cotton growing Mississippi. Carolyn mainly manned the shop because Roy also worked as a Truck Driver.
On August 24, 1955, Till went to the shop to get some candies, nobody knows exactly what happened inside the shop, but she accused Till of grabbing her waist and saying profanity to her. That night Roy and his brother, J.W. Milam got hold of Emmett. Till’s militated body was found several days later. Roy and his brother were tried for the murder of Emmett.
Both men were acquitted and nobody else was arrested or charged for the murder of Till.
Is Carolyn Bryant Still Alive or Dead?
Carolyn Bryant later divorced Roy and remarried twice, she stayed away from the spotlight. It is believed she is still alive although where she lives or what she is doing now is not known.
