Ashley Nicolette Frangipane is an American singer and songwriter who goes by the stage name Halsey. She was born in New Jersey and raised there.

Astralwerks signed Halsey’s in 2014 after hearing the music she uploaded on social media platforms. Later, she released Room 93, her debut EP.

Her first studio album, Badlands, was released in 2015. The album and its songs “Colors” and “Gasoline” were later certified as Double Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The lead single and best-selling album overall for Halsey were the title track and “Manic” from Halsey’s third studio album (2020).

The fourth studio album by Halsey, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power (2021), deviated from her earlier work in favor of a darker industrial sound; it was created by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails and received generally positive reviews.
