Hana Zagorová was a Czech singer-songwriter, actress, and presenter who began recording music in 1964 and passed away on August 26, 2022. She is regarded as one of the best-known vocalists from the Czech Republic. Between 1977 and 1985, she received the national Zlat slavk music award nine times, which ranks second in the award’s history behind Lucie Blá, who won the esk slavk, the award that replaced it, thirteen times.
In the 1963 singing competition Hledáme nové talenty (Seeking New Talent), where she was accompanied by the Gustav Brom orchestra, Zagorová initially garnered prominence. At the Janáek Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, she studied acting from 1964 to 1968 before receiving her degree. She released “Pr jsem zraná” (They Say I’m Debauched), her debut hit, in 1968. She started performing with the band Flamingo and appearing on television in the latter half of the 1960s.
Additionally, she performed with the group Sodoma-Gomorrah (Zagorová, Jitdro, and Viktor Sodoma), and she started working with the Václav Zahradnk Orchestra, with whom she made her debut album Bludika (1970). One of her biggest songs, “Bludika Julie,” was included on the album.
