James Eugene Carrey is an American actor and comedian. He is known for his versatile roles and methodic acting. He is well known for The Mask, Dumb and Dumber and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Jim Carrey was born on January 17, 1962, in Ontario. Carrey started performing comedy at clubs at the age of 16.

He auditioned for Saturday Night Live but was not picked. Disappointed Jim continued to perform at clubs until 1981 when he appeared on the television stand-up show An Evening at the Improv.

In 1983, Carrey moved to Hollywood and got his major role in the 1994 comedy in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Following the success of the film, he was offered the lead role in the movie The Mask, he got paid $7 million, which was his first big cheque.

By the 2000s, Carrey was a Hollywood leading man, starring alongside big names like Morgan Freeman, Jenifer Aniston, Steve Carell and Gray Oldman.

Jim Carrey is alive and still very active, although the actor has been outspoken about suffering from depression and had to take Prozac to combat the symptoms.

In April 2022, Carrey announced that he was considering retiring from the moviemaking industry, explaining, “I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.”
