Hancock introduced the Dyslexia Screening Bill to Parliament in December 2021 to make sure that every child is tested for dyslexia before they graduate from primary school. The Conservative Party suspended Hancock’s whip, effectively removing him from their parliamentary group but keeping him as a party member. He will sit in the House of Commons as an independent. “I want to raise the profile of my dyslexia campaign to help every dyslexic child unleash their potential, even if it means taking an unusual route through the Australian jungle,” Hancock explained.
