It was during the second fight between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield in 1997 when Tyson famously bit off part of Holyfield’s ear. He was the referee for that fight and quickly gained to prominence as a result of it.

Is Mills Lane still alive or dead?

Mills Lane is dead. Tommy, Lane’s son, contacted the Reno Gazette-Journal to let them know that his father, Lane, who had had a stroke 20 years ago, had spent the previous week in hospice care. Tommy’s message was included in the article. In an interview with the newspaper, Tommy Lane stated that “his overall position experienced a substantial deterioration.” It didn’t take long before they were gone.
