Mulayam Singh Yadav was the founder and patron of the Samajwadi Party. Yadav was the first person to emerge as the president from the Samajwadi Party. Yadav was also the Member of Parliament for Lok Sabha, MLA to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, and Minister of Defense, among other key government positions.
Mulayam Singh Yadav married twice; first to Malti Devi and then to Sadhana Gupta. Malti Devi died in May 2003 and Sadhana also died in July 2022. Yadav has an only child named Akhilesh Yadav, who is currently the national president of Samajwadi Party.
