Randy Travis was born Randy Bruce Traywick on May 4, 1959. He began singing in church at the age of 8 and his father encouraged him to pursue music. In 1978, Travis recorded his first single Dreamin, the song was a flop. He released She’s My Woman same year, the song was on Billboard 100 for six weeks. He released his second album Always & Forever in 1987, it did very well. Four singles on the album topped the charts. The album went platinum, selling 3 million copies.
Travis was a part of “Voices that Cares” to raise funds for the troops during the gulf war. In 1998, Travis won a Grammy for Same Old Train. By 2000, Randy sang more gospel songs like Baptism and Everywhere We Go.
