The Colts selected him in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft (18th overall) after he played college football for Alabama. At Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio, Kelly and Jordan Hicks were classmates. He was named to the offensive line’s first-team all-conference and all-city teams as a junior in 2009.
In the final game of his senior season, against rival Lakota East, he tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), yet he was still selected for the Division I All-Ohio the third team.
Ryan was selected, however, due to a recent knee injury, he was unable to take part in the Under Armour All-America Game.
