Ryan Patrick Kelly, an American football center for the National Football League’s Indianapolis Colts, was born on May 30, 1993. He attended Alabama during his college football career before being selected by the Colts in the first round (18th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

His home-state Ohio State Buckeyes signed the third-ranked centre, Brian Bobek from Palatine, Illinois, instead of the several scholarships offers he had from top universities like Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, and Tennessee. In July 2010, Kelly verbally committed to Alabama.

After redshirting his freshman year in Tuscaloosa, Kelly came off the bench to play in 10 games in the 2012 season at center, backing up All-American senior Barrett Jones. Amari Cooper and T. J. Yeldon were also selected for the SEC All-Freshman team, along with Kelly.

In his second season, Kelly replaced Jones as the starter, calling plays on an offensive line that was fourth in the SEC and 23rd nationally for fewest sacks allowed per game (1.31).
