Miller previously worked as the communications director for former senator Jeff Sessions as well as the press secretary for US congressman Michele Bachmann and John Shadegg.

During his inaugural address, Trump collaborated as a ghostwriter with Stephen Miller. He has served as a key adviser to Donald Trump’s administration since day one.

Immigration hardliner Miller played a significant role in the creation of both Trump’s travel ban, which reduced the number of refugees the administration would permit into the nation, and his policy of separating migrant children from their parents.

Miller concealed internal administration studies that showed that refugees had a net positive effect on tax collecting. Since Miller believed Kirstjen Nielsen was too rigid on immigration, Kirstjen Nielsen resigned from her position as secretary of homeland security in April 2019.
