Levine, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, began his musical career in 1994 as the lead singer and lead guitarist of Kara’s Flowers, a group that disbanded following the commercial failure of their sole album, The Fourth World. Later, he rebuilt the group, which is now known as Maroon 5, and brought in a fifth member. Songs About Jane, their debut album, was a huge hit when it was released in 2002. Since then, the band has put out 4 additional albums, all of which were certified platinum. They’ve also received three Grammy Awards.
