From 1984 until 1988, Edwards represented the University of Tennessee in collegiate basketball. Later, she played basketball professionally both domestically and abroad. Edwards participated in the WNBA for several different clubs and was selected to the second team in 1998.
After finishing her playing career, Edwards began working for Virginia Tech as an assistant coach. She later made her way to the WNBA, where she has worked as a coach for a number of groups, including the Minnesota Lynx, Tulsa Shock, and Houston Comets.
