William A. Shea, Jr. is well known for being the founder of the Continental League, which was essential in bringing National League baseball back to New York City with the New York Mets, in addition to being the namesake of the stadium where the New York Mets played for 45 years and paving the way for all of the MLB expansion teams that have come after. For the Georgetown Hoyas, William A. Shea, Jr. participated in three seasons of men’s basketball and one season of football.
