The 26-year-old Australian will face the former No.1 On Monday in the opening round of this tournament and has an advantage over Andy Murray, who likely knows more about his competitors than anyone else on the circuit.

He had his right foot, right shoulder, right foot again, right foot again in August 2017, right foot again in January 2018, right foot again in February this year, right elbow this year, and five more surgeries than Murray had.

James’ ranking has dropped from a high of 82 in April 2015 to 448 as a result of having been unemployed for a longer period of time than Jack Duckworth.

The Duckman, as his pals refer to him, has a professional understanding of his opponent’s plight perhaps because he hasn’t heard of Jack from the legend of Coronation Street.

He grimaced and said of Murray, whom he has occasionally hit: We both have a little bit of an understanding of what it’s like to be out of the game for a long time, and we’re trying to get back and getting acclimated to playing matches a day in and day out.
