From December 11, 1930, until June 17, 2022, Jean-Louis Xavier Trintignant was a French actor, filmmaker, and racing driver.

He made his stage debut in 1951 and went on to become one of the most gifted postwar French dramatic actors, appearing in a number of classic European films.

Among the many auteur directors with whom he collaborated were Roger Vadim, Costa-Gavras, Claude Lelouch, Claude Chabrol, Bernardo Bertolucci, Éric Rohmer, François Truffaut, Krzysztof Kielowski, and Michael Haneke.

With And God Created Woman (1956), And God Created Woman (1966), A Man and a Woman (1966), and The Great Silence (1967), he rose to prominence during the French New Wave period (1967).

For his work in The Man Who Lies, he received the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 1968 Berlin International Film Festival, as well as the Best Actor Award at the 1969 Cannes Film Festival for Costa-Gavras’ Z.

Jean-Louis Trintignant Children: Marie Trintignant, Pauline Trintignant, Vincent Trintignant

In 1962, they welcomed their first child, a little girl named Marie Trintignant. She had decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and become an actor.

Her life was brutally cut short in 2003 when Bertrand Cantat’s strikes claimed her life.

A tragic disappearance greatly affected Jean-Louis and Nadine Trintignant.

Their second child, Pauline Trintignant, was born in 1969.

Unfortunately, she died of asphyxiation only 10 months later, while filming the Rome-set film The Conformist.

Jean-Louis and Nadine Trintignant had their third child, Vincent, in 1973.

Like his late father, he was an actor, screenwriter, director, and film producer.
