Stéphane Audran was a French actress who was born Colette Suzanne Dacheville on November 8, 1932 and died on March 27, 2018.

She was noted for her roles in critically acclaimed films like The Big Red One (1980) and Violette Nozière, as well as award-winning films like The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972) and Babette’s Feast (1987). (1978).

After her father, a doctor, died while she was young, Audran was raised by her mother. After a brief marriage to actor Jean-Louis Trintignant, she married filmmaker and screenwriter Claude Chabrol in 1964.

Thomas Chabrol is her son from her marriage to Chabrol, which was terminated in 1980. (born in 1963).

Les Cousins, directed by Chabrol, was her first major performance (1959).

She went on to appear in nearly all of Chabrol’s films.

Les Bonnes Femmes (1960), La Femme Infidèle (1968), Les Biches (1968) as a wealthy bisexual who becomes involved in a ménage à trois (this is where she first gained notice), Le Boucher (1970) as a schoolteacher in rural France, Juste Avant La Nuit (1971), and Violette Nozière (1971) are some of the more notable of Audran’s films (1978).

She won the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the 18th Berlin International Film Festival for her part in Les Biches.

For her role in Violette Nozière (1978), Audran received a French César Award for Best Supporting Actress, as well as a British Film Academy Award for her role in Just Before Nightfall (1975).
