Jerry Blavat, who was known on Philadelphia radio for eight decades as “The Geator with the Heater and The Big Boss with the Hot Sauce,” has died at the age of 82. A family member informed NBC10 on Friday morning that Blavat had passed away. Blavat’s career as a DJ and dance host began in the 1950s and continued into this one.
The program has just been postponed, but Blavat was supposed to perform songs from the 1950s and 1960s on the Kimmel Cultural Campus the following weekend. Blavat continued to perform at record hops and festivals in the greater Philadelphia area and to give daily radio interviews.

No funeral has yet been held for Blavat. Since 2010, Blavat has belonged to the New York Friars’ Club. He continued to DJ at Memories, a nightclub he has owned and operated in Margate, New Jersey, since 1972.
