Jesse Michael Anderson, an American serial killer, lived from May 3, 1957, through November 30, 1994. In 1994, serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and fellow inmate and murderer Christopher Scarver killed Anderson in the Columbia Correctional Institution. Anderson was born and reared in Alton, Illinois.

When Anderson was a teenager, his mother remarried, and his father went away from a heart attack. In 1975, he earned his high school diploma from Alton.

In 1984, he also graduated with a Business Administration degree from Elmhurst College. On March 30, 1985, he married Barbara E. Lynch in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to his arrest for murder, the Anderson family, which included three small children, called Cedarburg, Wisconsin home.

Anderson alleged that he and his wife were attacked by two black guys. The Los Angeles Clippers basketball cap, which he said one of the attackers had misplaced, was shown to the police. When information about the crime became available, a college student told police that Anderson had just recently bought the hat from him.
