Yasmeen Dangor, who was very well known as Jessie Duarte, was a South African politician who passed away on 17 July 2022 after battling cancer for some time now.
Jessie Duarte has been a very active political personality in the politics of South Africa. She was a well-recognized anti-apartheid activist who also served as Nelson Mandela’s special assistant. Before she died, she was serving under the African National Congress as the political party’s acting secretary-general since 3 May 2021.
Jessie Duarte was married to John Duarte until they got divorced in 2001 as a result of a disagreement between them which was not well resolved. Jessie and John had two children together.
Before she died, she was said to have died after she was granted a sick leave by the African National Congress and the public did not see her in political activities. She came out to the public on 24 April 2022 to make them know she was still alive.
