Jim Seals was the primary lead vocalist of the singing duo.

Their songs were mainly “soft rock” with a run of hits that lasted for about six years.

Jim was born James Eugene Seals on October 17, 1941. His band mate Dash Crofts was born Darrell George Crofts on August 14, 1940.

The pair are memorable for their hits “Summer Breeze” (1972), “Diamond Girl” (1973), and “Get Closer” (1976).

The songs were noted to have peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Despite the duo disbanding in 1980, they reunited briefly in 1991–1992, and again in 2004, after releasing their final album, Traces.

Dan Seals, Eddie Seals, and Renee Byars-Staley are the famed siblings of the late Jim Seals. Amongst his siblings, Dan, also late, was an American musician.
