JP Smith (born 24 January 1989) is an Australian professional tennis player who mostly competes on the ATP Challenger Tour in singles and doubles. From 2007 through 2011, he was a four-time All-American at the University of Tennessee, where he reached the NCAA No. 1 position in both singles and doubles. Smith’s greatest ATP singles ranking was No. 108 on September 28, 2015, and his highest ATP doubles ranking was No. 52 on September 11, 2017.

Smith won his first ATP Tour match in July 2015, against fellow Australian Bernard Tomic in the first round of the Hall of Fame Championships in Newport. He advanced to the semifinals.

In 2019, he and fellow Australian Astra Sharma reached the final of the Australian Open mixed doubles.

When Smith started at the University of Tennessee in August 2007, Knoxville became his home away from home. He became one of the most productive athletes in Tennessee and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association history on the school hardcourts.

Smith helped the Volunteers to their finest four-year stretch in school history while being coached by Sam Winterbotham and former American tennis star Chris Woodruff. Smith consistently ranked in the top 10 among collegiate players in singles and doubles.

Nearly all of Smith’s career was spent at No. 1 in the singles and doubles lines. As a junior and a senior, he received the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year award in 2010 and 2011. Team Tennessee won the conference championship in both of those years and advanced to the NCAA championship game in 2010. Smith finally surpassed all other Vols players in career victories with 298. (152 singles win, 146 doubles win).
