Joyce Rebeta-Burditt is a bestselling author who wrote the long-running drama Diagnosis Murder, starring Dick Van Dyke.

Rebeta-Burditt was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and is the author of The Cookie Factor, a breakthrough Roman Key novel about a housewife who is sent to a psychiatric facility to address her alcoholism.

Before creating Diagnosis Murder in 1993, Rebeta-Burditt wrote dozens of episodes for Matlock and other Father Dowling Mysteries.

On CBS, the Dick Van Dyke star starred for eight seasons.

Rebeta-Burditt leaves behind three children: artist Paul Burditt, Emmy-winning sitcom writer Jack Burditt, and former Lionsgate Television Senior Vice President Ellen Burditt; eight granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister.

Her spouse, who was also a television writer, died before her. When he was 17 years old, he met George Burditt at a greeting card firm.

George Henry Burditt born July 29, 1923, was an American television writer and producer who penned sketches for television variety shows and other series including Three’s Company, for which he also served as an executive producer in the last seasons.

Burditt was nominated twice for The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and Van Dyke and Company, as part of a writing team that included his writing partner Paul Wayne.

On May 11, 1957, he married Joyce Rebeta-Burditt in the city and they are bless with three children. On June 25, 2013, at the age of 89, he died in Burbank, California, United States.
