A former Gold Coast Politician, Joshua Attoh Quarshie, has alleged that Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana is not Ghanaian but a Liberian born to a Liberian father known as Kofi Nwia, and Nyaniba, the woman we have been reading in the history books as his mother rather adopted Kwame Nkrumah when he first came to Ghana.
In an interview on CitiTV, he said: “Nkrumah is Liberian and not Ghanaian… his original name is Nwia, Francis Nwia… no one knows his mother… Nyaniba was a barren woman who had no child and they used to carry some sticks at the back…”
The Gold Coast politician alleged that Nkrumah did not have siblings and his actual mother is unknown.
He also alleges that Kwame Nkrumah did not go to University in the states but rather was working as a toilet puller who depended on Ako Adjei for survival.
It is not actually surprising for him to say what he said since he was a member of the Joseph Boakye Danquah movement in the Gold Coast. Therefore, he had nothing positive to say about the Nkrumah.
