Kylen Granson, an American football tight end with the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League, was born on March 27, 1998. Prior to being selected by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, he played collegiate football for Rice and SMU.
Granson joined the Rice Owls as a wide receiver to start his collegiate career. He grabbed 33 passes for 381 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman; the next season, he caught 18 passes for 241 yards. After David Bailiff’s dismissal as head coach, Granson quit the team. He had originally planned to walk on with the Texas Longhorns when he enrolled in Austin Community College. Inadvertently running into Bailiff on the University of Texas campus, who was unaware that Granson had departed Rice, Bailiff started reaching out to college coaches on Granson’s behalf. Granson was given a walk-on spot by SMU coach Sonny Dykes.
