Despite their worries for her health, her doctors report that the 96-year-old monarch “remains comfortable.” Prince Harry is on his way, and the Queen’s four children are already present in Scotland with Prince William.

Both outside Buckingham Palace in London and at the gates of Balmoral, well-wishers are assembling. According to Liz Truss, the incoming prime minister of the UK, “the news will greatly disturb the entire country.”

The first ministers of Scotland and Wales say they are thinking of the Queen, while the Archbishop of Canterbury says he is sending prayers.

Liz Truss was chosen prime minister by the Queen on Tuesday in Balmoral.

According to Buckingham Palace, the Queen is being monitored by medics at Balmoral after they started to worry about her health. At the Queen’s Scottish estate outside Aberdeen, all of the Queen’s children have gathered.

The doctors for the Queen “are worried for Her Majesty’s health following further evaluation this morning and have recommended she remain under medical observation,” according to a statement.

It continued, “The Queen is comfortable.” This kind of announcement from Buckingham Palace is extremely unusual because the institution often declines to comment on the 96-year-old monarch’s medical issues because they are regarded as personal. Prince Charles, her son, and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, are staying in Balmoral.

Just before 6:00 p.m. BST, her grandson, the Duke of Cambridge, along with his wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, and other sons, the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex, landed at Aberdeen airport.

They travelled around 40 miles in a car by themselves, together, with Prince William, to the Queen’s Scottish home (64km).

Princess Anne, who is currently staying at Balmoral, was already performing engagements in Scotland. On their first day of school, the Duchess of Cambridge has stayed behind with her kids in Windsor.

To go to Balmoral, the Duke of Sussex is taking a separate route. His wife Meghan was not travelling with him, according to a spokesperson. The American couple had travelled to the UK to take part in a charity event.

The Queen’s health is clearly a top priority; this is stated much more directly than before, and there is no mention of this being limited to mobility issues. There are also cautions about making assumptions without sufficient evidence, like that she may have fallen. She was also seen grinning as she named Liz Truss as the new prime minister on Tuesday.

The fragility of the Queen’s health, however, is evident from the last-minute cancellation of what would have only been a virtual gathering of top ministers in the Privy Council.
