Letter to Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, Businessman and member of Parliament for Assin Central.

With pleasantries duly observed, I write to express my concern on the ongoing “beef” between yourself and the people who in one way or the other, offends you resulting in the recent outburst and equally put up a request.

Let me start by stating that, I am an ardent follower and a fan of three major aspects of you. The philanthropic aspect of you, the political and hard working aspects. In terms of philanthropy, I personal admire that sense of generosity that you have. Your inner zeal to help the poor and vulnerable is highly commendable. I have seen on several counts how needy people queue up at locations just because they know you are, or will be around and you always take your time to listen to every single one of them and mostly meet their requests.

Second; the sense of objectivity you exhibit in politics. Although some may argue to an extent that, there is an element of strategic mischief in it, I am personally proud of you for successfully holding your own party and the other flank of the political divide responsible for their actions most of the time. Finally, the business and hard working side of your life which serves as a motivation and a good example for the younger generation, including myself to emulate in a bid to chase our dreams.

However Honorable, I crave your indulgence to consider two things: first, the temptation of people dragging your character into the mud and tarnishing your long built reputation. Second; the social consequences or repercussions that erupt in your attempt to deal ruthlessly with those who offend you.

My emphasis is on the latter point. I have been watching NET2 TV since this trendy beefs started and I must admit that, I have equally been part of the bandwagon of people who believe you are a show stopper. In fact, I knew that, every “beef” with you has been won before it is initiated but I have come to realize one thing; the damages suffered by individuals and families.

Honorable Ken, the people you drag into your fight with others. I mean those who have completely no idea about your fight, or have no direct involvement whatsoever suffers grievous problems in their social lives than you think. Each person you mention has a husband/wife, children, relatives and reputation devoid of their past experience. In few instances, you made references to some people who are currently married or in a relationship but had a certain relation, sexual or otherwise with your offenders.

These references I strongly believe may end up serving as a catalyst for broken relationships/homes and other serious social consequences. With all due respects, kindly leave “innocent” people out if the fight is even worth it.

Conclusively, I mentioned earlier that I am an ardent follower but certainly, I do not follow people I greatly admire blindly. I believe a blind followership leads to nothing but the destruction of the leader. I have learnt a great lesson from Sun Tzu’s Art of war that, THE GREATEST VICTORY IS THAT WHICH REQUIRES NO BATTLE. The reputation you have built over the years, the hearts you have won, the numerous people you have helped will fight for you if necessary.
